Bon Odori

The Buddhist Temple of San Diego and the Japanese Friendship Garden hosted the Bon Odori, a traditional Japanese celebration involving the Bon dance. At Obon festivals people remember and appreciate the spirits of their ancestors. Altough that sounds pretty serious at first, it is a pretty colorful affair after all.

Comic-Con San Diego 2016 (3/3)

Comic-Con is awesome, but after carrying tons of heavy equipment from Thursday through Saturday I almost did not go on Sunday. I'm glad I did go eventually though, otherwise I would have totally missed out on the talented Shenay (among others), who presented a Steampunk version of Black Cat. It helped a lot that I packed a bit lighter on that day, I just grabbed my 5D MK III and two lenses.

Comic-Con San Diego 2016 (2/3)

I had so much fun shooting at the Comic-Con! I got two nice villains on this page, and some pretty cool costumes in general. Watch out for another set of edited versions of some of these pictures in the next months in the art-section though.

Comic-Con San Diego 2016 (1/3)

Oh joy! Four days of excitement at the Comic-Con! I met lots of cosplayers with fantastic costumes, having fun despite suffering from the massive heat on the first two days. I will show general pictures of cosplayers I have taken on my blog first, later I will showcase some selected shots on my blog and in the art section. Feel free to link to my site or share on social sites.

Autumn Love

Last week my friend and artist Autumn Love asked me to take pictures of a bunch of models she gathered to support her at an upcoming art show in Downtown San Diego. The result: A very colorful affair!

Los Angeles

Early December I decided to go to Los Angeles for a couple of days, I had to run some errands and also planned to visit the Ghetty Center to see the exhibition of the Japanese photographer Ishiuchi Miyako. I took my bike, hopped on the Coaster, transferred to the Metrolink, and cycled LA from Union Station Downtown.

Bryce Canyon

If I had to choose between Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon I'd definitely go for the latter. Grand Canyon is very impressive because of its sheer size, but Bryce Canyon is like a master piece of art, sculpted by mother nature herself.

Dia de los Muertos

So I went to Old Town San Diego to take pictures of Dia de los Muertos, the day of the dead, for the first time, and I have to say that I really liked it.

Vintage cars in the USA

I am not much of a car guy, coming from a densely populated city in Germany, where most distances within the city are well under 10 miles, so that I would usually rather ride my bike than a car. But it's different in the U.S. ...
