Last week my friend and artist Autumn Love asked me to take pictures of a bunch of models she gathered to support her at an upcoming art show in Downtown San Diego at the House of Blues. I am very glad she did ask me, because first of all her art rocks! She face-painted the girls, and had their hair styled by Dominica Somers - very nicely done with flowers and tiny lights attached. The whole affair resulted in a color-explosion painted on some very pretty girls.
I didn't actually take pictures at the art show, which was hosted by the San Diego RAW artists, but way before in the afternoon while the girls were being prepared. I had actually planned to take more pictures at the art show, but the available light there didn't really support that.
For some shots I decided to put the girls in front of Autum's work to show the connection between the actual art and the artistic face-painting.
I used the Canon EOS 5D MK III with a 85mm 1.8 lens for most of the pictures, except for this shot I chose the 28-70 mm 2.8 lens.
If you think those face paintings are colorful, you'd better check out Autumn's actual paintings! Visit her website artbyautumn.com.
